The stock markets in Asia-Pacific traded mostly higher following the recent Tokyo December inflation report, which showed the inflation rate slowing to 2.4% from 2.6% of the previous year.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.69% at 2:56 am CET, and South Korea’s Kospi Composite was up by 0.26% a minute later.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.72% at 2:57 am CET, while, on the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Composite fell by 0.27%, the Shenzhen Composite increased by 0.25% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up by 1.84% at 2:58 am CET.
The dollar traded 0.31% lower against the yen, going for ¥145.34 at 2:59 am CET.
