Major stock exchanges in the United States traded mostly lower at the open on Wednesday as earnings from tech companies seemingly failed to live up to expectations. While Alphabet’s Google cloud revenue came in at $11.9 billion in the fourth trimester of fiscal 2024, registering a slower growth compared to the previous quarter, AMD’s net income slid 28% on an annual basis to $482 million. Meanwhile, the US trade deficit grew in December 2024.
The Dow Jones stood flat at the opening bell. The Nasdaq 100 opened the session tumbling 0.54%, as AMD dropped 10.17% at 9:31 am ET. The S&P shed 0.22% at 9:30 am ET, with FMC nosediving 33.58% a minute later.
The euro gained 0.32% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, going for 1.04197.
